A few days ago, on my personal social media sites, I posted a short tribute to my cousin who is going through several tough transitions at the same time. That whole family is going through a lot right now, but they are tougher than nails. It’s amazing what people can accomplish with God as their anchor. I wanted to share with you all the short post. I hope you enjoy it.
For the Girl
This is for the girl who had so much to overcome in so little time.
For the girl who unexpectedly lost her father and has to redefine a new “normal.”
For the girl who had a crucial track meet one day and a funeral the next.
For the girl who celebrated graduating high school and her party in an unanticipated way.
For the girl who keeps on smiling when she could be crying.
For the girl who dug deep and won 7th and 9th places in two different state track events throughout all of these circumstances.
For the girl who has been dragged through the valleys and persevered.
For the girl that says she looks up to me, I now look up to her.
For the girl whose dad was and would be so proud of today.
For that girl, I can just hear him say, “That’s MY girl.”
“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:31, 37
